BBC Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise confirms return of familiar face in major series announcement
The BBC has announced the guest line-up for the Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise Christmas special - and a familiar face is returning to the island of Saint Marie in the festive episode
The popular BBC series Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise has unveiled its star-studded guest cast for the upcoming Christmas special, with a much-anticipated return of a beloved character to the fictional island of Saint Marie.
The festive episode will feature Jim Howick (Ghosts), Angela Griffin (The Wives), Marcus Brigstocke (The Unbelievable Truth), Steven Hartley (Happy Valley), Elizabeth Carling (Hotel Portofino), Michael Salami (Supacell) and Dex Lee (Doctors), all celebrating Christmas under the Caribbean sun as they join the cast of Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise’s Christmas special.
They will be appearing alongside the new Detective Inspector Don Gilet, who is set to make his debut as DI Mervin Wilson. The show’s regulars are also returning, including Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, Danny John-Jules as Officer Dwayne Myers, and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.
In an exciting twist, the episode will see the return of Ram John Holder as Nelson, Dwayne’s father, to the BBC drama.

The Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise Christmas Special, filmed on the picturesque French Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe, will pave the way for a fresh series set to air in 2025.
Devotees of the show are in for a treat with the usual mix of thrilling escapism, perplexing mysteries, and compelling plot twists, all set against the stunning backdrop of the sun-kissed Caribbean.
Nelson made his last appearance on Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise alongside Ardal O’Hanlon, who portrayed the lead detective Jack Mooney. Nelson and his son Dwayne departed the island to focus on their familial bond.
Dwayne made a comeback in the final episode of the most recent series, which also marked the departure of characters Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) and Florence Cassell (portrayed by Josephine Jobert). The episode concluded with Dwayne bidding farewell to his friends as they embarked on a new journey into the sunset.
Following Ralf Little’s unexpected exit from the show, BBC executives have announced that Don Gilet will be stepping into the role of the new detective inspector, with filming already in progress.
