Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) fought back against abuser Tom King (James Chase) in recent Emmerdale scenes as she unleashed her fury at him.

At Marlon Dingle’s (Mark Charnock) birthday party, Tom left Belle devastated when he lashed out and smashed the urn containing Lisa Dingle’s ashes.

After cruelly telling Belle to stay away from his car, as she was now covered in mud and ashes, Belle decided to walk home and spent the night in the spare room.

The following morning, Tom gaslit Belle over the situation, telling her that destroying the urn was ‘an accident’ and that she was ‘changing the narrative to fit her victim mentality’.

When Tom continued to focus on how the situation had made him feel, totally ignoring Belle’s emotions, she informed him that she didn’t have time to have this conversation before work, leading Tom to angrily storm out.

Later, she confronted him about his behaviour, pointing out that she was upset about her mum’s ashes – but Tom once again made himself the victim by pointing out that he had lost his mum recently too.

As their argument escalated, Belle ended up screaming that she hated Tom, before storming off to work.

In the salon, Mandy Dingle and Suzy Merton (Lisa Riley and Martelle Edinborough) could tell that something was wrong, and soon Belle was telling them about the argument, but leaving out key details about Tom’s behaviour.

The two women insisted that she take the afternoon off to sort things out with her husband, and soon Belle headed back to the vets, where the welcome from Tom was less than warm.

He revealed that he had booked a hotel for the night, once again twisting the story and saying that Belle had wanted space.

Tom was adamant he was going away, until Belle begged him to stay as he was taking his bags outside.

It was then that Tom apparently relented and agreed to cancel the booking, but it became clear to viewers immediately that he had been lying to her.

Instead of calling the hotel he’d supposedly booked, he rang his own voicemail, and pretended to talk to the receptionist on the phone.

It was then that he announced that they would be keeping his ‘deposit’, making Belle feel even more guilty than she already did.

Will poor Belle ever find out about Tom’s lies?
