Beyond Paradise viewers were left panicking after fan favourite Anne Lloyd had a health scare.

The much-loved character – who is played by Barbara Flynn – had collapsed while she was helping out at daughter Martha’s restaurant in a previous episode. She also found an unusual mole on her back, so in the latest instalment of the Death In Paradise spin-off she made a secret visit to the doctor.

Anne was told she needed further tests, leaving fans worried.

The episode of the BBC crime drama that aired on Friday, 11 April saw DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and his team investigating after several people in the village appeared to have been poisoned by chocolates that had been delivered to them.

As the twisty case rumbled on, Anne slipped off to see her GP.

She kept it quiet and didn’t even open up to Martha, who is played by Sally Bretton. And she tried to play down her worries to the doctor, suggesting it was a “fuss about nothing”.

However, after taking a look, the doctor said she needed a biopsy.

“It’s Corfu, that’s what did it,” said Anne. “I baked in the sun, every holiday, for years.”

“There are lots of factors at play so please don’t beat yourself up,” said the GP, urging Anne not to jump to conclusions until they’d had “a proper look”.

“Asking for help is not a weakness, it’s a strength,” she said, as Anne replied: “Despite appearances, I’m a tough old bird really.”

Fans were left fearing that Anne has some bad news coming. “Anne had better not be sick,” one person posted on X.

“Someone give Anne a hug,” urged another person. Sharing a picture of someone sobbing, another viewer posted on the platform: “If Anne is sick.”

“Don’t be cancer. Nooo!” exclaimed another fan, as someone else posted: “I hope Anne is okay!” “She needs to speak to Martha,” they added.

Beyond Paradise next airs at 8pm on BBC One on Friday, 18 April.
