THE BBC has reportedly renewed Beyond Paradise for a fourth season.

The drama is a spin off to D.e.a.t.h in Paradise and set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott, Devon.

While the BBC is yet to officially confirm the series’ return, media reports suggest Beyond Paradise will begin filming its newest season in July, per TV Zone.

The media outlet claimed to have seen production listings to back its report.

Beyond Paradise follows DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) as he and his team attempt to solve baffling cases in the idyllic town.

But residents in the real-life town where the show is filmed have spoken out about the reality of living there and say it is far removed from what is seen on screen.

The coastal town used for filming is called Looe and is actually in Cornwall.

According to Cornwall Live, the area has faced problems far removed from the idyllic “paradise” fans see on-screen.

In a previous report, the outlet told how, like many coastal Cornish towns, Looe’s concerns included “housing, economic and social deprivation, the d.e.a.t.h of the fishing trade and even loneliness.”

It revealed that, at the time, approximately 30 people were occupying a caravan park outside the town – having found themselves homeless.

Many properties had been converted into Airbnbs for tourists at a time of growing housing need.

“Hidden homelessness” was also highlighted, with locals staying in vans, tents or on other people’s sofas.

Looe is also infamous for its floods which can seriously impact local traders.

Kris, 51, first made his debut as DI Humphrey Goodman in D.e.a.t.h In Paradise in 2014.

After he departed the series in 2017, he returned to the franchise in 2023 to reprise the role in Beyond Paradise.

Beyond Paradise airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
