Caleb’s K.i.l.l.e.r ‘Exposed’ – Emmerdale Fans Shocked It’s NOT Joe Tate!
Emmerdale's Caleb is unknowingly in danger as his nephew illegally seeks out a donor match
Emmerdale fans believe they’ve pieced together the puzzle of why Caleb Miligan ends up hospitalised and on a ventilator in a dark twist.
As fans of the ITV soap will know, Caleb (William Ash) was depicted unconscious in a hospital bed hooked up to life-support machines during a suspenseful flashforward.
The mystery surrounding Caleb’s health led fans to suspect Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) needs an organ donation from a blood relative – something he has now confirmed. Caleb is the son of Frank Tate (Norman Bowler), making him the half-sibling of Chris Tate, Zoe Tate, Jamie Tate, and Liam Hammond.
Given that Joe is the son of Chris, this also makes him Caleb’s half-nephew, and blood related. Joe was recently revealed to have drugged his half-brother Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) following a devastating limousine accident.
A fuzzy flashback showed Noah in a hospital bed, seemingly in a private hospital with Joe and a doctor present. The doctor was preparing a syringe to inject into Noah while conversing with Joe. The flashback is seen through Noah’s eyes, making it blurry and difficult to interpret.
This week, Joe confirmed he is battling chronic kidney disease and has been hooking himself up to a dialysis machine every day just to keep ticking over. After Noah failed to provide a match, Joe has insisted: “I have found someone. I’m being extra careful this time. We’ve had one failed transplant, I can’t have another.”
Joe revealed that he’s got his eye on a kidney from “another blood relative”, but he’s not about to ask for their permission to help with his health problem. “If I ask, we run the risk of them saying no. This way they don’t see me coming,” Joe schemed.
Elsewhere, Manpreet Sharma’s (Rebecca Sarker) world turned upside-down since someone started tormenting her with nasty messages over her decision to run a subscription page with adult content.
Manpreet has since closed her account, but the unknown individual is still threatening to ruin her medical career by releasing pre-saved screenshots from the page.
In Tuesday’s episode (March 18), on ITVX now, Manpreet arranges to meet with the blackmailer to hand over money to guarantee their silence.
Manpreet is furious when Joe shows up, but he firmly denies being the person who’s trying to extort money from her. Instead, he promises to support Manpreet by paying off the blackmailer for her – which, of course, is all too good to be true.
Just when it seems that Manpreet’s woes are nearing an end, viewers see that she has fallen into a clever trap. Joe is revealed to have engineered the blackmail texts after all, wanting to sneakily befriend Manpreet as part of his bigger agenda.
Emmerdale fans are now convinced Manpreet will be responsible for Caleb winding up in hospital on a life support machine as Joe will blackmail her into the organ transplant procedure.
Taking to Facebook, one fan wrote: “I think Joe’s doing it so that he can ‘save’ her from it, so she’ll be on his side & willing to help if he needs an extra doctor with this whole stealing organs thing.”
A second added: “His doing it to get info on Caleb cos she has access to his medical records blood group ect”. A third chimed in: “she’s a doctor – her help with stealing an organ or testing Caleb to see if he’s a match for Joe.”
“Makes sense now with her being a Dr and him offering to give the money”, suggested one fan.
“So basically, he wants to blackmail Manpreet into helping him out using her racey pictures as bait. Another stupid storyline”, added another.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
