Cryptic Emmerdale scene ‘proves’ John drugged Chas as Ella ‘framed’

There could be a major twist on Emmerdale involving Chas Dingle after she appeared to overdose on painkillers this week.

The character was rushed to hospital after collapsing and hitting her head after suffering a funny turn. She was found by John Sugden, the boyfriend of her son Aaron Dingle, with the medic quickly trying to help her and calling for an ambulance.

At the hospital doctors quizzed Chas on her painkiller intake, after finding out she had seriously high levels of codeine in her system. Chas had been prescribed strong painkillers after injuring her back in the limo crash last month.

She insisted she had been taking them as prescribed and directed, with partner Liam Cavanagh backing her up on this. But the doctors were sure she had somehow overdosed as the amount in her system was too high for her dose.

Something John said on Wednesday though might have hinted he may have been involved, and something on Thursday only suggested this further. Spoilers had revealed Ella Forster, Chas’ love rival, would be accused of meddling with her medication.

Liam and Ella were previously together and then after a breakup, there was a moment between them that left Ella believing they would reunite. Liam ended up secretly moving on with Chas though, with Ella soon finding out and being left heartbroken.

Chas and Liam recently got engaged, leaving Ella furious once more and she clashed with Chas just a day before her collapse, also seen sneaking out of the back room of the pub. Meanwhile John was also annoyed with Chas, upset with her lack of approval over his romance with Aaron.

The idea of them getting engaged did not impress Chas who, after weeks of clashes with John, made him feel unwelcome yet again. John moaned to Ella about this and was shown eager and desperate to get Chas onside.

Some fans were left wondering if he caused Chas’ health drama to play the hero, or as a means of targeting her for revenge. So when he made a comment on Wednesday night about Chas possibly overdosing, he left fans sure he was involved.

John had told Liam it was “easily done” with possibly taking the wrong amount of pills, pushing the accidental overdose suggestion. Thursday’s episode saw Chas questioning who other than Ella it could possibly be, not thinking anyone else would want to hurt her – while John was stood next to her.

So is John the real culprit, and is he trying to get rid of Chas? Viewers certainly believe this to be the case amid speculation he killed Nate Robinson.

They think he is now framing Ella, and is in fact the person to watch out for. One viewer said: “I SWEAR IF JOHN IS PULLING A CASSIE AND DRUGGING CHAS I WILL THROW HANDS!”

Another fan posted: “John definitely up to something. He always seems to be at right place when a character needs to be saved. I wonder when audience finds out what John really wants? He seems suspicious.”

A third fan added: “Did John do something to Chas???” as a fourth suggested: “John has put some in her food/drink.”
