Death in Paradise

Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise fans ‘work out’ return of ‘favourite’ detective as exit ‘sealed’

Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise fans were left heartbroken on Friday after Selwyn Patterson announced his job was being dissolved.

Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise fans seem to think Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) could be coming back following fears that Sewyln Patterson (Don Warrington) is leaving Saint Marie.

During emotional scenes last night, Selwyn finally told his colleagues that his job as the Commissioner of Saint Marie was being dissolved.

After apologising to Darlene Curtis (Ginny Holder) for snapping at her, the Commissioner announced: “There is also a second apology I have to make.

“I have been keeping something from you which… on the advice of a trusted friend, I have decided to share with you all.

“The position of Saint Marie’s Police Commissioner is being phased out and I am being phased out.”

“They can’t,” Naomi (Shantol Jackson) argued.

To which Selwyn replied: “I am afraid they can, and they are.”

While some fans are devastated that the Commissioner might be leaving, others think it could prompt the return of one or two familiar faces.

One fan posted on a Facebook fan page: “If Selwyn Patterson leaves Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, can we have Humphrey and Jack come back to save him from being axed?”

Another agreed: “Bring back Humphrey.”

While a third added: “I like all of the characters, especially Selwyn, I do miss Kris Marshall.”

Someone else went on: “I Miss Neville and Florence, it isn’t the same without them.”

“Yeah, I agree,” another simply replied.

“Humphrey was my favourite, he could come back to save Selwyn’s job,” one commented.

While Humphrey has returned to Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise since his exit, he is currently starring in the show’s spin-off, Beyond Paradise.

Ardal O’Hanlon, who played Jack Mooney, also recently reprised his role in the new Australian spin-off, Return to Paradise.

Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise returns next Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
