DᴇᴀᴛʜIn Paradise star sparks concern with picture from hospital bed
Dᴇᴀᴛʜin Paradise actress Josephine Jobert has worried fans after posting a cryptic photograph from a hospital bed.
The French actress and singer, 39, starred as DS Florence Cassell in the BBC detective drama over nine years alongside Kris Marshall and Ralf Little.
After initially leaving the series in 2019, she rejoined the cast in 2022 and then again in 2024, as Ralf Little said goodbye to his character DI Neville Parker.
While her Instagram is usually full of smiley photos with friends and cast members, Josephine’s Insta story painted a very different picture on Wednesday.
Normal activity has resumed since, but the actress sparked concern after posting a photograph of herself lying in a hospital bed, with her face not visible.
In the picture, Josephine could be seen wearing a pulse oximeter, which is a small device used by doctors and nurses to measure blood oxygen levels.
The numbers displayed on the screen indicate how well (or poorly) somebody is breathing, and how much oxygen is getting from their lungs to their blood.
However, some believe that the picture might not be all as it seems, with Josephine following up the story with confirmation that filming for her next project has finished.
So, there’s every chance the shot of her in the hospital bed, hooked up to machines, could just a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what she’s up to next.
That next project looks to be French drama OPJ, which is another police-themed series – Josephine is said to be nailed down for a guest role in the upcoming show.
Back in 2015, she first appeared on DᴇᴀᴛʜIn Paradise alongside Kris Marshall’s character DI Humphrey Goodman, who stayed on the show until 2017.
The former My Family actor was then replaced by Father Ted star Ardal O’Hanlan, with Josephine only alongside Ardal for three of his four seasons as DI Jack Mooney.
After initially leaving the series during Ardal’s run in the show, Florence returned during Ralf Little’s era as Neville and left the show with Ralf with their two characters realising they were each other’s true love.
