D.e.a.t.h in Paradise star Kris Marshall has left fans delighted as he shared some exciting news about reuniting with a former co-star from his Love Actually days in the latest season.

The leading man of the popular BBC detective series teased the surprise reunion while promoting the new episodes of Beyond Paradise in Australia.

During Sunday’s episode of The Project, Kris announced that Abdul Salis, who played his character Colin Frissell’s loyal best friend Tony in Love Actually, has made a guest appearance in the murder mystery show.

Kris was overjoyed at the chance reunion, revealing it had been more than 20 years since he saw Abdul. “I had only seen him once in 24 years,” the actor, 52, admitted.

He then reflected on the unique bond between actors, as he continued: “It’s a beautiful thing about being an actor. You pick up where you left off. It’s kind of symbiotic. I love it.”

Evidently delighted to be back with his old friend, Kris remarked: “So, he came in and did a guest thing and we’re all a bit older and, you know, we’re not very much wiser. We’re all good.”

Though Kris kept mum about the details of Abdul’s character, he let slip a tease that might suggest his former colleague isn’t the wrongdoer, saying: “I don’t think he’s…” before chuckling and insisting: “I’m not going to give any spoilers!”

Abdul, famous for playing paramedic Curtis Cooper in Casualty, has also graced shows like Doctor Who, Father Brown, and The Wheel of Time with his presence.

In preparation for the new series, Kris and Sally Breton shared insights into filming while drawing from their parental experiences.

As DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd navigated foster parenting, Kris told HELLO!: “Parenting is often three steps forward, two steps back, and when you think you’re winning, the rug gets pulled out from underneath you.”

Sally chimed in with her perspective: “I understood getting it wrong. I understand thinking right, I’m getting somewhere, and then the next day, there’s a new problem or another worry you’ve got on the shelf.

“I understand that you never get to a point where you think: ‘I’ve got this’, and then absolutely haven’t. And that is parenting in my experience.”

D.e.a.t.h in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
