D.e.at.h in Paradise’s new detective confirms return as he makes series announcement

D.e.a.t.h in Paradise’s newest addition, Don Gilet, shared an exciting filming update during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine. The actor, who plays the show’s new lead detective, Mervin Wilson, appeared alongside his co-star, Shantol Jackson, who plays Naomi Thomas.
After discussing what it was like to replace Ralf Little as the new DI, Don shared an exciting announcement about when he would be filming for the new series again.
“When are you back to the sunshine then?” Lorraine asked.
Don replied: “Unfortunately, it is about April time, end of April.”
“Why is that unfortunate, Don?” Shantol asked as Don laughed: “I just meant for the people I am going to leave.”

Don also discussed what it was like taking over from his predecessor, Ralf, and how the current series is different.
“I think what is different about this one is that there is an arc,” he continued: “There is a personal journey that is going on with the detective because he is originally there to find his mother.
“And he happens to still be on the island, leaving and still be on the island when the latest crime happens, so let’s make use of him.”
When Lorraine pointed out the new DI has a reluctance to be in Saint Marie, Don admitted: “He is torn. He is there to find his mother. He doesn’t know what it’s going to be like when he meets her.

“He finds out she has died, then he has to stay there in this place, and he has tried to leave. He has all that struggle going on and he doesn’t like these people because he doesn’t want to be there.”
The new series of D.e.a.t.h in Paradise is currently airing every Friday night.
The synopsis for the upcoming episode teases: “At the launch of her highly anticipated skincare product, a wellness business owner suddenly dies from an allergic reaction.
“Mervin quickly deduces her d.e.a.t.h to be suspicious when, despite the presence of peanuts in her throat, the victim didn’t eat or drink anything. Meanwhile, Darlene struggles to train up new officer.”
