Dan Osborne ‘bought a house in secret months before Jacqueline Jossa split’
Dan Osbourne is said to have bought a house behind wife Jacqueline's back, which sparked a huge row before they announced they were splitting for good
Dan Osborne reportedly bought a secret house behind wife Jacqueline Jossa’s back months before they announced their split over the weekend. The 33-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star is said to have purchased the property in the seaside town of Southend in Essex at some point last year.
This was apparently because EastEnders actress Jacqueline is the sole owner of the couple’s ‘dream home’ and he “needed to look after their future” should they split. When 32-year-old Jacqueline – who Dan shares daughters Ella, nine, and six-year-old Mia with – found out, it’s said to have sparked a blazing row and “reignited old trust issues” between the pair. In the past Dan has been accused of cheating, which he has always denied.
The couple also took a break from their eight-year marriage when Jacqueline was pregnant with their second daughter, but they got back together not long afterwards.
After months of reportedly not getting on, Dan – who is also dad to 11-year-old Teddy from a previous relationship – is said to have “put the wheels in motion” to get his own pad “because he believed their relationship was coming to an end”. This is said to have left wife Jacqueline feeling “betrayed”.
In an official statement the couple confirmed their split. A rep said: “Jacqueline and Dan are handling things privately, choosing to keep their lives and relationship out of the public eye. They kindly ask for respect and privacy as they navigate this together.
“Their children remain their top priority, surrounded by love and care from both parents — something that will never change. Above all, Jacqueline and Dan have each other’s and their children’s best interests at heart.”
Claiming to reveal the real reason behind Jacqueline and Dan’s split a source told MailOnline: “Dan bought a house last year without telling Jacqueline until the final stages. He put the wheels in motion because he believed their relationship was coming to an end and with Jacqueline owning their marital home, he needed to look after his future. It caused a blazing row between them and the trust, which was already fragmented, really suffered.”
Dan is since thought to have moved out of the former marital home, which Jacqueline has stayed in with the kids. However, the house – said to be worth £2 million – reportedly sold last month for a six-figure sum, suggesting the pair were set to split anyway or that Jacqueline wants a fresh start with the girls. The Mirror have approached reps for the couple for comment.
A pal is said to have told The Sun: “Jacqueline and Dan are on a break and are spending time apart from each other. It’s not been easy for them lately and they have made this difficult decision. Neither of them knows what is going to happen in the future, but for now they’ve decided living apart and taking a break from each other is what they need.”
Though the pair have been rocked by scandals in the past, the source claimed Jacqueline and Dan are “amicable”. They also went on to confirm that there was nothing else surrounding their decision, other than their own relationship and said: “Jac and Dan have been rocked by their fair share of scandals but this situation could not be further from that.”
Jacqueline and Dan met at an awards show in 2013 and announced they were expecting their first child together a year later. Dan proposed in Greece in 2015 and they tied the knot in a fancy ceremony at a Cheshire hotel in 2017, before their second daughter arrived in 2018.
