Dawn and Billy Fletcher (Olivia Bromley and Jay Kontzle) had their worlds turned upside down in recent Emmerdale scenes when their baby son Evan was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

After finding bruises on Evan’s legs, Dawn was instructed to take him straight to A&E, where the paediatrician informed the worried parents that Evan was a very sick baby.

After a number of blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy, Evan was diagnosed with Leukaemia, leaving his family reeling.

In upcoming scenes, Dawn struggles with his impending chemotherapy, and things only get worse when Billy is called away to care for an upset Clemmie just as the chemo is about to start.

As he opens the door to leave, he finds Rose (Christine Tremarco) sitting outside.

Despite their strained relationship, Dawn invites her in, not wanting to be alone in this difficult time.

When Dawn has to stay in the hospital overnight with Evan alone, Billy is left feeling helpless.

With Clemmie clearly struggling, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) offers to come over and discuss Evan’s diagnosis with her and Lucas.

When she arrives, she shows the children a book to help them understand, and answers all of their questions about Evan’s condition.

Later, they visit Dawn at the hospital, who tries her best to reassure them that Evan will be fine.

However, it soon becomes clear that Dawn truly believes that Evan will get to grow up as normal, which leaves Billy, Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Kim Tate (Claire King) concerned.

Will they be able to help Dawn grasp the severity of the situation?
