Ben Miller, known for starring in BBC’s D.e.a.t.h in Paradise, has revealed that he is ‘beyond thrilled’ as his ITV detective series Professor T has announced an exciting update.
Ahead of the show’s fourth season, which is due to air this year, the broadcaster has revealed that the series has been renewed for a fifth series.
Confirming series five of the drama ITV Assistant Drama and Comedy Commissioner, Callum Dziedzic commented: “It’s a real pleasure to bring another series of Professor T to audiences.
“With its gripping crimes, fascinating characters, and captivating cast – led by the brilliant Ben Miller – the show continues to surprise and delight both ardent fans and newcomers alike. Over time, it has truly found its own identity beyond the original, and we can’t wait for viewers to see what’s coming in the next chapter.”
Ben will be back to play Cambridge’s illustrious Professor Jasper Tempest, whilst Frances de la Tour, also reprises her role as the Professor’s mother Adelaide Tempest and they are joined by Zoe Wanamakeras her sister, and the Professor’s aunt, Zelda Radclyffe, while Juliet Stevenson returns as psychologist Dr Helena Goldberg.

Based on the Belgian show of the same name, Professor T follows a genius criminologist with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) who helps police solve crimes.
The Professor T actor said he was “beyond thrilled” to be working on a fifth season, teasing that his character will be tackling “his most baffling case yet: romance”.
“The fact that audiences worldwide have embraced the show so warmly is hugely rewarding, and we’re already brimming with ideas to make Series 5 even more quirky, heartfelt, and surprising,” Miller added. “Here’s to another season of baffling crime, dreaming spires, and ironing that tweed….”
ITV has promised that fans can expect a number of surprises in series five. With six brand new episodes featuring some “unexpected new relationships and more complex crimes for the Professor and police unit to tackle”.

This will include a “boxing match that takes a bloody turn and a series of inexplicable sudden d.e.a.t.h.s at an upmarket spa”.
Many favourite characters will face some tough choices, and the stakes for Professor T and his team have never been higher.

Series 4 of Professor T will air later this year on ITV1 and STV and will be available to stream on ITVX and STV Player.
