EastEnders character in serious danger as complaint is made in early iPlayer release

This article contains spoilers about Wednesday’s EastEnders, which is already available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
EastEnders’ Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) was in serious danger at the end of Wednesday’s episode after trying to blot out her recent trauma.
Earlier this week, the teenager was harrowingly strip-searched at the police station after being brought in for questioning with friends Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) and Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd).
Police suspected Avani was in possession of drugs after a bag of pills was seen at her feet having been dropped by her vape dealer. But in actuality, the teens were all innocent of handling any drugs.
At the station, officers eventually let Lily and Amy go, but then told a terrified Avani they would be conducting a strip search on her.
The dehumanising ordeal left Avani broken, and as we returned to Walford on Wednesday, she was upset to learn that her mum Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) had told Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) and planned to make an official complaint about the police’s conduct.
While Priya agreed not to go ahead with her plan, some words from Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) made her realise she needed to step up and do what was best for her daughter, despite her protestations.
After Priya then made a visit to the station, Avani was horrified to find out her mum had gone against her wishes to proceed with the complaint.
Storming out of the house, Avani claimed to be going back to her dad Ravi Gulati’s (Aaron Thiara) house. However, she was then seen picking up a bottle of vodka from the Minute Mart.
Trying to escape her ordeal, Avani took huge swigs from the bottle, before passing out drunk in the playground, leaving her in danger.
She looks set to face further heartache later this week, however, when Suki also goes against her wishes and tells Ravi about what Avani has been through.
How will he react?
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
