EastEnders has confirmed a huge return – as one chaotic character is back to throw Lauren Branning and Peter Beale’s engagement party into chaos.

Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) will be back on the Square after two months away – and she’s making it clear that she’s not going anywhere. It’s been been a tough few months for Cindy who was attacked and left for d.e.a.d after being beaten with a shovel following her affair with Junior coming to light.

After two months of investigating, she discovered her attacker was infact her mother-in-law Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), but the drama didn’t end there. After a huge altercation with Ian, Cindy ended up accidentally shooting him in the arm, and then later pushing him in front of Reiss’ car, ultimately leading to the devastating Queen Vic explosion.

Cindy then left the Square after taking money from Ian – who promised he would keep the reason for the explosion under wraps if she kept quiet about Kathy.

Now, it’s been confirmed that Cindy will be making an unwanted return during her son Peter and his fiancee Lauren’s engagement party. The happy event will be thrown into chaos when Cindy makes her dramatic return, and as the shocked Beales and Knights reel, Cindy makes it clear that she’s not going anywhere.

Fans of the BBC soap were certain Cindy would be making her return soon, as they predict she’s back for revenge on Ian and Kathy. She then gathered the Beales and Knights, revealing that she’d be going to stay with her friend Gita Kapoor (Shobu Kapoor) as she “feared for her safety” in Walford.

“I don’t understand why you’re letting Ian get away with this,” Junior said to Cindy as she headed to the tube station.

“Oh, no one’s getting away with anything, but I’m just happy to let them think that they have. For now,” Cindy responded, hinting that she’d be getting her own back on the pair.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter at the time of her exit, one fan penned: “It’s definitely not the last we’ll see of Cindy. Gillian Taylforth teased last week that the story is far from over. I think she’ll be back in a few months with eyes on revenge. #EastEnders”.

Michelle Collins first joined EastEnders in 1988, and was presumed to have d.i.e.d during childbirth in prison ten years later. However, in 2023, Cindy made a surprise return to the soap – revealing she had been under witness protection as Rose Knight the ‘missing’ wife of George Knight. It was also revealed she had two daughters, Anna and Gina.
