EastEnders is lining up Dickensian inspired festivities for the residents of Albert Square next month, as ghosts of Christmas past return…
The BBC One soap always delivers at Christmastime, giving us something deliciously dramatic to sit down to after a belly-full of turkey and chocolates.
Luckily for us, this year is no exception!
One year on from Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder at the hands of The Six – which has influenced almost each and every story over the last year – next month’s celebrations are set to pave the way for the upcoming 40th Anniversary and the rest of 2025.
Whilst Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) affair with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) is exposed to their families, and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) gets a surprise gift from an unlikely source, another local is to be haunted by their past.
Exact details are being kept under wraps for now, though it’s likely that Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) could be at the centre following the resurgence of her alcoholism.
We’ve seen her battle her demons in the wake of Keanu’s death and subsequent cover-up operation, that saw the culprits frame her rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).
A number of cast members, including Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard who starred as Nancy and Lee Carter, were pictured shooting funeral scenes on location, presumably for a loved one.
Also in attendance were Johnny Carter and Elaine Peacock (Charlie Suff and Harriet Thorpe) – though there was no sign of our beloved Linda.
Nancy was wearing flamingo earrings, which are a staple of Linda’s wardrobe… whilst the rest of the mourners had pink accessories.
The show has been known to set up location shoots in order to throw viewers off the scent of what is really set to happen, so it could be that The Queen Vic landlady is about to be handed a horrifying vision of how her future could play out.
There’s also the possibility that Danny Dyer could reprise his role as Mick Carter – after all his body still hasn’t been uncovered after being washed out to sea in 2022.
Could he be a ghostly apparition at his grieving wife’s bedside?
With a wave of iconic characters returning ahead of the show’s 40th anniversary in recent months, it’s undoubtable that bosses will be pulling out the big guns to make this Christmas the most memorable on record.
But who will be the mystery residents making footprints through the snow?
