EastEnders has teased more details from their forthcoming 40th anniversary week.
After months of anticipation, the BBC soap will finally mark four decades on air later this month with a spectacular live episode.
Wedding fever arrives in Albert Square as Billy and Honey Mitchell (Perry Fenwick and Emma Barton) prepare to walk down the aisle… again.
The big day won’t be exactly straight forward, as amid the big reveal of Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) Christmas Day attacker, everyone’s favourite boozer The Queen Vic will go up in flames.
There will also be a devastating death, as confirmed in new aerial pictures from filming which showed floral tributes lining the Bridge Street Market.
Viewers will be able to take part in the celebrations themselves, getting to choose which fella Denise Fox (Diane Parish) settles down with. But who will it be?
Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), or Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara)?
There will be another chance for audiences to cast their vote, but the show is keeping tight-lipped over this for now.
Advanced spoilers have now confirmed a few more details about the milestone week.
In Monday, February 17th episode, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) makes a devastating decision in the wake of brother Grant’s (Ross Kemp) return.
This comes after some troubling hallucinations amid the Walford hard man’s mental health battle.
Billy and Honey are abuzz with excitement, whilst Cindy uses underhand tricks to sniff out the mystery festive assailant.
The next day, Tuesday, February 18th, she puts herself in control. Has she finally discovered the truth?
Elsewhere, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) makes a ‘daring confession’. After months of harbouring her feelings for ex-husband Martin Fowler (James Bye), does she finally come clean?
Plus, there’s a shocking return as a familiar face strolls back into the area.
Who is this, and what consequences will it have for the locals?
Wednesday, February 19th is exactly forty years since the show began, and will be marked with an hour-long edition.
Tragedy strikes with lives in peril, as Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) helps a friend in need. Not only that, it’s decision time for Denise!
‘Enders goes live on Thursday, February 20th, as we discover how the public have voted.
With The Vic destroyed, the neighbours fight to save their nearest and dearest who are trapped inside.
In December, executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: ‘I can’t say too much, but it’s explosive.
Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt elaborated on Chris’ comments, saying that viewers should ‘expect everything and more!’.’
‘The anniversary week is bonkers,’ he enthused. ‘I think I can safely say for all of us, we picked up the scripts and said, “What the f—?!”
‘It was literally “How the hell are we going to do this?” and we have. It is honestly brilliant.’
Consider us very intrigued.
EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One, and is available to stream from 6am on iPlayer.
