EastEnders d.e.a.d body discovery sends shockwaves in early BBC iPlayer release
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
The floor has fallen from beneath Harry Mitchell’s (Elijah Holloway) feet after learning that his ex-girlfriend Shireen was brutally murdered.
As fans of the soap know, his mum Nicola (Laura Doddington) k.i.l.l.e.d the girl four years ago, and has desperately tried to conceal the gory truth ever since.
Poor Harry was under the impression that Shireen had disappeared, as her body lay undisturbed at a derelict industrial park in Dartford.
Earlier this week, his dad Teddy (Roland Manookian) discovered Nic’s involvement, and promised to sort the predicament.
She’d decided to take matters into her own hands, and began furiously digging at the grave.
Just seconds before he caught her in the act, Nicola shouted at the ground, revealing that Shireen was privy to some damning information – Teddy wasn’t his youngest son Barney’s (Lewis Bridgeman) birth father – hence why she had to d.i.e.
The pair decided to confront associate Benji (Carl Prekopp), who had concealed the body in 2021, offering him £60k to move it.
He demanded a much greater sum, but after taking a £20k deposit, got to work. Teddy watched on from afar as police swarmed the area, and arrested Benji.
In today’s episode, Nicola learned what had happened and the pair decided to get their story straight before further questioning.
Shireen’s brother Asad (Aslan Amjad) contacted Harry to tell him that she had been found, and unfortunately was d.e.a.d.
Mortified, he rushed home and asked his parents if they knew. They played ignorant, denying any knowledge of the situation.
It wasn’t long before officers arrived at the house and wanted to speak with Nicola. A stunned Harry watched on as they told his mum that Benji had implicated her, spilling about the cash.
Knowing that this day would come, Nicola gave a very believable argument and branded Benji a ‘fantasist’.
The police still had their suspicions, believing that Teddy took on the job at the industrial park’s redevelopment to cover for Nicola, but left until the investigation proceeded.
Harry darted out, suspicious and questioning everything he knew about his parents.
Later, Nicola headed to work at her bar and received a troubling voicemail from Benji, who had been given a phone behind bars.
He warned her that he was on to her, and she shut down operations for the day and retired to her office to plot her next moves.
Suddenly, a window smashed. She wasn’t alone. Brandishing a crowbar, she confronted the mystery intruder.
But who has broken into the bar, and what do they want?
