Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) took shock action in Thursday’s EastEnders as she asked love rival Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) to help her with a plan to test fiancée George Knight (Colin Salmon).

Elaine and George are due to walk down the aisle next week, but the Queen Vic landlady was forced to rethink her future after she was confronted with a secret from her past.

Earlier this week, Elaine was stunned when a drag queen called Drew Peacock performed at her hen night, before it was revealed he was her late husband’s lover.

Elaine’s daughter Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was shocked to learn her dad John was gay and was in a relationship with Drew, but she stayed with John as he was unable to come out.

After a heart-to-heart with Drew about the past, Elaine was left with food for thought about her relationship with George, wondering if she was second-best to his ex-wife Cindy.

Thursday’s episode saw her ask George for a pre-nup, who was confused and upset by her request.

After some time to think, he begged his fiancée to trust him, handing her a list of his assets, before saying she could give him ‘all the tests’ – laying the groundwork for what Elaine did next.

After witnessing an exchange between Cindy and her secret lover Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), Elaine became convinced they were laughing about her and George’s relationship.

Coincidentally, Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) then began telling Elaine and Kathy Beale (Gillian Wright) about a honeytrap she once laid for her husband Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker), giving Elaine an idea.

Heading over to see Cindy at No. 45, Elaine then made a shock request.

‘I just can’t do it,’ she told Cindy. ‘Unless I know that he loves me… I’m desperate. Seduce him. Honeytrap George – a test.’

‘Are you insane?’ Cindy asked.

‘Very possibly,’ Elaine admitted. ‘But how are we going to find out for sure?’

With Cindy having recently confessed her love for George to David Wicks (Michael French), will she agree to Elaine’s plot?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
