EastEnders explode with delight as missing character makes live episode comeback

EastEnders fans have been left overjoyed as Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) made an appearance in tonight’s live episode.
The BBC soap is celebrating 40 years on our screens with the aftermath of a dramatic explosion, viewer votes and a birth – all happening live.
However, it is the return of Kat that has had fans on social media jumping for joy, after fears that she may not appear in the celebrations at all.
Earlier this week, fans took to social media to question where Kat was for the celebrations of Honey and Billy Mitchell’s (Emma Barton and Perry Fenwick) wedding, and the subsequent explosion that rocked the Queen Vic.
In tonight’s episode, she walked into the café wondering what had happened, pointing out that she’d ‘only been gone a few hours’.
Fans were quick to celebrate her appearance on Twitter/X, with @TVaddict2025 saying: ‘KATHLEEN MY BELOVED’.
‘Kat’s back!’ Paul agreed, while Shan exclaimed: ‘Kat!!!!’
Some viewers were convinced that she would be coming back to the Square with daughter Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) in tow, after actress Michelle dropped several hints that she was willing to head back to Albert Square.
Unfortunately, it seems that is a return we will have to keep waiting for.
Viewers were also left stunned earlier this week when Angie Watts appeared in a vision to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), with Anita Dobson reprising her role.
Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) also came back after being called upon to help brother Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
