EastEnders fans were incredibly surprised yesterday when Zack Hudson (James Farrar) confirmed he knows Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington).
The new face is the mother of Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) Mitchell, and the ex-wife of Teddy (Roland Manookian).
During her arrival, fans saw Nicola making life uncomfortable for Teddy, cornering him at Peggy’s where she discovered he was buying the nightclub.
But while she was there, she bumped into a face from the past when employee Zack dropped by, and the pair shared a knowing look.
When they later bumped into each other on the Square, it was revealed they’d previously had an affair when Zack was working as a personal trainer and she was still married to Teddy.
‘My core ain’t been the same since you had a go at it,’ Nicola cheekily told him.
She then asked him to do her a favour and keep their tryst a secret, not wanting Teddy, Harry and Barney to find out.
Following this small scene, EastEnders fans have taken to social media platform X to share their thoughts. For many, they can’t help but wonder if Zack may end up being the biological father of Barney after actor James Farrar promised an exciting new storyline for his character.
With audience members of the BBC One soap noting the huge difference in personalities between Harry and Teddy, and Barney, this X user wrote online: ’Omg is Zack Barney’s Dad? The resemblence is there’.
Echoing the theory, another shared pictures of Zack, Nicola and Barney and said: ‘Erm…what if….?’.
Back at the start of October, actor James Farrar teased what’s ahead for Zack in his intriguing new storyline.
‘It’s clever, that’s all I’ll say’, he said.
‘Nobody knows bar Chris [Clenshaw], the press team, my wife and Aaron know! If I was to tell somebody, it doesn’t do the story justice and the story is so clever.’
Aaron Thiara plays Zack’s mate Ravi Gulati in the show, a character who knows exactly what it’s like to suddenly be told he’s the father to a child following the arrival of ex Priya (Sophie Khan Levy) and their daughter Avani (Aaliyah James).
