EastEnders fans ‘rumble devastating Phil Mitchell exit’ as BBC soap legend sparks concern

EastEnders viewers are convinced a devastating storyline is on the way for BBC soap legend Phil Mitchell, and that it could lead to his sad exit before the 40th anniversary episodes

EastEnders viewers think a sad exit could be on the cards for Walford legend Phil Mitchell.

Steve McFadden’s character has been sparking concern with other characters and viewers recently on the BBC soap, with a recent episode showing him isolating himself. Phil was shown in tears and appeared to be lonely, as he stared at photos of his now-distant relatives including his children.

As Phil fell out with cousin Billy amid him discovering his secret brother and other family members, he pushed his loved ones away. In upcoming scenes his ex Sharon Watts urges him to stop pushing people away, clearly worried about him.

His other ex Kat Slater also tries to get Phil to open up, while he continues to keep himself to himself and avoids people. With spoilers and recent scenes hinting something could be wrong with Phil and with the 40th anniversary on the way, fans are now convinced he could be involved in a devastating storyline.

Viewers fear Steve will bow out of the show after more than three decades on the show, and that it could be part of a devastating loneliness plot. One fan said: “I have a feeling Phil is at the end of his character. Could he be leaving?”

Another posted: “Phil’s loneliness storyline had the seed planted a while back and is apparently being picked back up next week. The arrival of Teddy who seems to be a slight reincarnation of Phil/Grant, with Harry also serving as Ben/Keanu 2.0 and his wife Nicola seemingly resembling that of 80s Sharon but with the typical sass needed to be a female Mitchell has made me have a strong feeling that Steve McFadden is not long for the show.

“Harry working in The Arches and Teddy buying Peggy’s which I have no doubt that Nicola will be made Manager begrudgingly by Teddy also leads me to think that Phil is being slowly phased out. What if – in the 40th Anniversary Week – that Phil’s loneliness hits the ultimate peak and starts to crush him down intensely with it becoming visible that he is struggling, leading to soul searching chats with Sharon, Kathy & Ian Beale of all people (The OGs) about how he shouldnt let the darkness of depression beat PHIL MITCHELL down…. which seems to have an affect.

“But the Live Episode ends up showing us Sharon WATTS, Kathy BEALE & Kat SLATER (his ex wives) all finding Phil dead in his lounge – similar to how Reg Cox was found in the very first episode and also taking parts of Shayne Ward’s Corrie Male Suicide SL with how no-one sees it coming.

“The immortal phrase ‘Cor it stinks in ‘ere dunnit’ has already been uttered by a Watts with Den in the First Episode in ’85, a Slater during the 30th Anniversary by Stacey – so it would make sense for a Beale to say it which leads to Kathy saying it upon entering Phil’s house. Sharon being the one to switch the light on and see him first and then we hear Kat’s iconic scream wail out as the camera pans out across the square away from Phil’s house and stopping at the corner giving us a view of both The Vic/ The Arches.”

A viewer seeing the theory replied: “I think you’re on to something here …. Maybe we won’t see him from Christmas.”
