EastEnders fans ‘work out’ huge return 25 years after exit after major name drop
EastEnders fans are convinced one of Martin Fowler's former girlfriends is making a return
EastEnders viewers are abuzz with speculation that Nicky Di Marco could be making a sensational comeback to the Square following the on-screen passing of her former flame, Martin Fowler (James Bye).
Actress Carly Hillman, who entered Albert Square as Nicky in 1998, was part of the iconic Di Marco family.
She set up home in Walford with her mum Rosa (portrayed by Louise Jameson), and siblings Beppe (Michael Greco), Gianni (Marc Bannerman), and Theresa (Leila Birch).
Nicky quickly became best pals with Sonia Jackson (played by Natalie Cassidy) and briefly dated Martin. Her love life took a dramatic turn when she fell for Rod Morris (Forbes Masson), her maths teacher, leading to one of the soap’s darker tales.
The storyline saw Nicky try to entice Rod resulting in him attacking her. When Gianni found out, not completely convinced by Nicky’s side of events, things got violent as he confronted the teacher.
The turmoil led to Nicky making an exit from the drama of the East End in 2000, escaping to a refuge, reports Plymouth Live.
A scene from the April 8 episode of EastEnders has sent whispers among viewers about Nicky’s possible return. On what was to be Martin’s funeral day, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) at Martin’s produce stall revealed that someone named Nicky had sent over a sympathy card.
“Nicky Di Marco”, Stacey clarified before recalling: “I remember him telling me about her”.
Fans have hit social media hard with their theories, with one saying on a platform: “Nicky Di Marco mention in 2025? ? ! Is crazy #EastEnders.”
Another fan added fuel to the fire, stating: “TWO mentions of Nicky Di Marco in the last few months. The return looms. #EastEnders.”
One fan couldn’t contain their excitement, exclaiming: “A Nicky di Marco reference in 2025?! #EastEnders.”
Another was equally thrilled, shouting: “NICKY DI MARCO! #EastEnders”, and yet another chimed in with: “OMG A Nicky Di Marco mention.”
