EastEnders’ Linda Carter’s new romance ‘sealed’ as fans predict ‘iconic’ couple
EastEnders fans are convinced that two of the soap's icons are about to embark on a romance after a 'glaring clue' in Monday night's 40th anniversary episode.
EastEnders fanatics reckon there’s a love story brewing between two of Albert Square’s legends after Monday’s episode, which launched the show’s 40th anniversary celebrations with a bang.
Honey (played by Emma Barton) and Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) tied the knot in a heartwarming ceremony, while Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) turned up for Billy’s big day—his grand comeback after nearly a decade away.
Yet, Grant failed to notice his brother Phil (Steve McFadden) is battling serious mental health issues, despite warnings from their friend Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley).
Meanwhile, Linda Carter (portrayed by Kellie Bright) rocked back onto the scene fresh from rehab, tackling her booze troubles head-on.
In a nostalgic chat outside the pub, Grant quipped to Linda: “I was the landlord once, many moons ago,” trying to lay on the charm.

But before things could heat up, Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) barged in, reminding Grant about his late wife Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon) and her tragic end right where he stood.
The current Queen Vic hostess, Linda, diffused any rising tension from Bianca, showing sympathy towards Grant.
“Look I’m sorry she’s had a terrible time,” said Linda, imparting some empathy from her own past struggles.
Eagle-eyed viewers have since picked up on a potential spark between Linda and Grant, and are now buzzing with predictions that these two old-timers might be getting close for a future romance storyline.
Fans have taken to X, the new social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on a potential EastEnders pairing. One viewer excitedly suggested: “So hear me out…..Linda and Grant? ? ? ? #EastEnders40 #Eastenders.”
