EastEnders Linda Carter’s return date ‘confirmed’ after sudden BBC soap exit

EastEnders legend Linda Carter has left the BBC soap after her heartbreaking alcoholism storyline reached it's peak, but fans are all saying the same thing about her exit

EastEnders legend Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) has waved goodbye to Walford after her booze battle hit rock bottom.

Huyền thoại EastEnders Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) đã nói lời tạm biệt với Walford sau khi cuộc chiến cai rượu của cô chạm đến đỉnh điểm.

After weeks of hitting the bottle hard and losing control, the ex-Queen Vic boss was forced to choose between her family and her demons, ending up necking more drinks.

In a tear-jerking twist, Linda saw her own funeral in a gut-wrenching scene, leading to a life-changing moment as she poured the vodka down the drain and faced her mum Elaine Knight. Choking back tears, Linda admitted: “I don’t want to be this person anymore”.

Looking for answers, Elaine quizzed her about the sudden turnaround, with Linda revealing: “I saw it all, Mum… what would happen if I don’t stop.”

She added, hit by a brutal truth: “It’s like someone slapped me round the face and you’re right, the drink is going to kill me, and when I die, everyone’s going to hate me.”

In the latest instalment of the BBC One drama, now up on BBC iPlayer, it’s been confirmed that Linda’s checked herself into rehab, leaving fans speculating about her comeback.

A fan took to social media saying: “As Linda has gone to rehab I am assuming she will be away for Christmas. If she is back in time she won’t have gone to rehab, it would be just a week long detox, which isn’t rehab.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

One fan speculated: “I think they’ve sent her away for Christmas because she doesn’t really fit into the whole Cindy/Junior affair storyline. It would be awkward to write her into the Christmas episodes at the Vic.”

Meanwhile, a fourth commenter noted: “Inpatient rehab for alcohol is often 30 days, but can be 60-90 days depending on the centre and level of need.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
