EastEnders has revealed the identity of Nicola Mitchell’s intruder, as she edges closer to getting caught out over Shireen Bashar’s death.
Nicola agreed to pay Benji to move Shireen’s body, which was buried in Paradise Park, and was prepared to sell Harry’s Barn to generate the huge amount of cash.
But Teddy suddenly decided to go against their plan and tipped off the police, who arrested Benji while he was digging up the body at the site.
The next morning, in today’s episode, Teddy couldn’t keep the truth to himself any longer, telling Nicola that he had gone rogue and changed the plan.
While furious Nicola raged at his actions, Shireen’s brother Asad phoned Harry and broke the news that his ex-girlfriend’s body had been found.
As devastated Harry told his parents that Shireen is dead, two detectives arrived to speak to Nicola, as Benji had claimed that she was the real culprit.
The evidence against Nicola began to stack up: the £20,000 that was paid to Benji before his arrest, the burner phone which she used to contact him, and her bracelet which was found on Shireen’s body.
Nicola tried to spin a story about Benji, but as Harry observed the conversation, he grew more suspicious about his mum’s involvement in Shireen’s death.
When the detectives left, Harry followed suit, and Nicola and Teddy were left fearful about what might happen next.
Later at Harry’s Barn, Nicola was disturbed to receive a voicemail from Benji, now in prison. She reacted badly and demanded that they were closing the club early.
In her office, Nicola listened to the voicemail in full, with Benji claiming to have friends on the outside who could “help straighten out her memory problems”.
Terrified by Benji’s threat, Nicola then heard a glass shatter in the club, and she realised that she wasn’t alone. She investigated and swung a crowbar at the intruder – her son, Harry.
