After previous speculation that Teddy Mitchell was not his biological dad, a hospital dash leads to a discovery for another Walford man.
Barney’s wound from the pub explosion began to bleed and was taken to hospital with Teddy and Nicola Mitchell.
However, Zack was left baffled when he overheard a conversation about blood groups.
He was then gobsmacked when Nicola dropped a bombshell – he is Barney’s real dad.
But while he reels from the life-changing news, Nicola is already plotting to keep control of the situation, desperate to stay in control.
Ever since Nicola arrived in Walford, sparks have flown between her and Zack, hinting at a past connection.
Now, the truth is finally out – Nicola fell pregnant after a fling with Zack but let her husband Teddy believe the baby was his.
With secrets, lies, and plenty of drama ahead, how will Zack handle his unexpected new role as a dad.
And just how far will Nicola go to keep Zack quiet?
Meanwhile, fans of the BBC soap are bashing bosses for the DNA twist saying the new storyline for Zack is “silly”.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one fan wrote: “Zack being Barney’s dad is just silly idc #Eastenders.”
Another added: “Terrible storyline once again, they couldnt think of any story lines for zack so they just came up with this atp eastenders needs a purge 80% of the cast needs to go. Eastenders in 2025 is unwatchable.”
A third penned: “The abysmal barney is the son of Zack.”
