EastEnders star Aaron Thiara filming scenes that will ‘never’ air ahead of ‘difficult’ special

EastEnders star Aaron Thiara has opened up about the show's 40th anniversary live special, revealing that he's been filming scenes that will never air on BBC soap

EastEnders star Aaron Thiara has revealed that it’s been a “difficult” week on set for the soap cast, who are filming scenes that will make it to air due to the upcoming live special.

Speaking to This Morning’s Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, Aaron – who plays Ravi on the show – shared that the stars are preparing for the upcoming live episode, where fans get the chance to choose who Denise Fox (Diane Parish) ends up with on the soap.

The public will vote for whether they want Denise to end up with husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) or her lover Ravi Gulati. The results will then determine what happens in the upcoming live special.

Appearing with co-stars Diane and Scott, Aaron opened up about filming scenes that will air after the live special – revealing that they are working on scenes that may never air depending on the result of the vote.

“It’s been difficult the last few weeks because we’ve been shooting A and B stuff so we’re in April now,” he said, sharing that they are filming scenes that will air in April. “We’ve been doing versions after the live.”

Ben added: “So you’re shooting loads of stuff that will never come to air depending on what the choice is?” Aaron replied: “Yeah. It’s been double workload – for Diane really.”

Earlier this week, new EastEnders scenes teased a devastating fire in the Queen Vic. A show insider revealed: “The Queen Vic explodes as part of the show’s red hot storyline in the coming days. It comes after a car smashes into the pub and is sure to cause chaos and might mean the end of the road for at least one star.”

It won’t be the first time that the pub has gone up in flames. In September 2010, Phil Mitchell set the pub on fire, almost killing baby Lily Branning in the process and causing landlady Peggy to leave. The episode was watched by up to ten million viewers on BBC One.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX. EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
