EastEnders won’t be gracing our screens tonight due to a BBC schedule reshuffle.

The soap opera aired a particularly intense episode last night, where Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) was given a glimpse into her future if she continued on her path of alcoholism. In distressing scenes, she witnessed her own demise unfold before her very eyes.

However, those planning to catch the latest instalment this evening will be left disappointed as there’s no episode scheduled for tonight. Instead, the slot has been taken over by the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

While EastEnders won’t be broadcast tonight, it will return on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 7.30pm. The episode that was supposed to air tonight will instead be shown tomorrow night, pushing the week’s fourth episode to Friday night.

But for those who can’t wait to see what happens next, Wednesday’s episode of EastEnders is already available on BBC iPlayer, with the remaining episodes set to be released on Wednesday and Thursday morning at 6am respectively.

Monday’s episode of EastEnders saw a significant shift in format as Linda continued to grapple with her issues. After the events of last Christmas and the guilt she’s been harbouring, Linda turned to drink as a coping mechanism, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Viewers were led to believe that Linda had tragically passed away in shocking scenes where she was seen coughing up blood and drawing her final breath on a bench in the Square. The scene then jumped forward to Linda’s funeral, where she ‘watched on’ as her family grieved her loss.

Danny Hatchard and Maddy Hill, who portrayed Lee and Nancy Carter, were seen trying to support their brother Johnny Carter (played by Charlie Suff) through a difficult time. Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) was left grappling with the aftermath of her daughter’s ordeal.

Nancy was determined to take care of Linda’s children, Ollie and Annie, when things suddenly took a turn in Albert Square, prompting Linda to decide to quit drinking and enter rehab for the sake of her family.

This festive season on EastEnders, Cindy Beale’s secret affair with her ex’s son Junior is set to be dramatically exposed as part of a special Christmas Day double episode of the BBC soap.

*EastEnders will be back on air Wednesday evening at 7.30pm on BBC One, and is available now on BBC iPlayer.
