EastEnders: ‘work out’ Amelia’s identity and it’s bad news for one resident
EastEnders fans are convinced they know who Amelia really is.
EastEnders enthusiasts are speculating that the new character, Amelia, is in fact the secret lover of George Knight (Colin Salmon), and is concealing her true identity. This theory comes as the enigma surrounding Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) attempted murder deepens.
The BBC One soap has been persistently unraveling its thrilling whodunnit since Christmas Day when nine potential culprits were identified for the brutal attack on Cindy with a shovel. After a brief period in a coma, Cindy woke up and returned to the Square, but remains clueless about who tried to end her life and their motives.
In recent episodes, several suspects have been scrutinised for their dishonesty regarding the events of that night. Last week, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) was compelled to confess that she had an affair with Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) on the night of the assault, leaving her sister Anna (Molly Rainford) stunned.
On Thursday (January 30), a determined Cindy decided to uncover the truth herself and headed to the Vic, where she found the hidden shovel used in her attack.
Meanwhile, Gina encountered Junior’s neighbour, Amelia (Melissa Batchelor), who insisted on showing her some CCTV footage outside his flat. The video revealed that he wasn’t home on Christmas night as he claimed, leading Gina to suspect him, reports Plymouth Live.

Cindy later handed over the shovel to the police, hoping it would help identify her assailant.
Gina popped over to see her mum Cindy and showed her a video of Junior dialling her number in a rage while he thrashed a pile of rubbish outside his flat.
“The neighbour wanted to take it to the police, but she’s a s.e.x worker and she didn’t want the attention”, Gina spilled the beans to Cindy.
There’s still a grey area when it comes to George’s actions on the night Cindy was attacked, though he did try to rope his brother Kojo (Dayo Koleosho) into giving him an alibi.

However, EastEnders viewers are convinced George was keeping company with Amelia on Christmas Day, who just so happens to be linked to the Ford family, the very mob Cindy was dodging while in witness protection.
One avid fan suggested something suspicious on X, posting: “Do we think there might be more to ‘Amelia’ than meets the eye? Seemed a lot for a one scene character. She’s apparently a s.e.x worker and we do know that Ian likes that sort of thing when he’s in an emotional crisis….? #EastEnders.”
Another chimed in with: “Maybe George visited her that night #EastEnders @bbceastenders”, prompting someone else to respond: “Oooooh! Maybe!”
One particularly eagle-eyed viewer theorised: “Having the real k.i.l.l.e.r be someone like Amelia who enters the story at the end and is also not who they say they are, is classic detective fiction plotting. In my theory, Amelia has been there all along, watching and waiting – we just haven’t seen her. #EastEnders.”
