EastEnders: ‘work out’ who mystery Amelia really is – and it’s terrible news for Cindy Beale

She has come to Walford for a reason, but what is it?

EASTENDERS fans think they have ‘worked out’ who the mystery character Amelia really is.

BBC One viewers have tuned into the long-running soap to see a mysterious new character suddenly pop up on screen.

Actress Melissa Batchelor has made quite the impression on EastEnders fans in her stint on the soap.

This week she bumped into a depressed and angry Phil (Steve McFadden) outside The Vic as she was on the phone.

She solicited him straight away, inviting him for a drink and handing him her business card.

On tonight’s episode, Phil once again lashes out at a worried Sharon (Letitia Dean), as he throws her out of his home.

When she returns, ready to forgive her ex-husband, she is surprised that Amelia was in the house.

The sex worker needed her money immediately as she was needed for another job across town.

With a cheeky wink at Sharon, she left the Mitchell household for her next move.

However, viewers took to social media as they claimed the new character has an ulterior motive and has joined the soap at just the right time.

They think she might have secretly been the perpetrator behind the highly-publicised attack on Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) at Christmas.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan claimed: “What if Amelia is a Ford and was the one who attacked Cindy?”

A second replied: “I was honestly thinking the same thing.”

“Amelia is a slippery fish,” stated a third fan.

While a fourth wrote: “My theory: Amelia is a hitman (hitperson?) for the Ford family or is part of the family.

“She was supposed to end Cindy on Christmas Day but botched the job, so now Amelia’s lingering in Walford, keeping tabs on the investigation and waiting for another opportunity.”

Cindy (Michelle Collins) first disappeared from the soap when she faked her own d.e.a.t.h after she was put on the Witness Protection Programme.

She went into hiding where she found love again with George (Colin Salmon) and gave birth to two daughters.

This was before Cindy put her whole family in danger when she returned to Walford in the aftermath of the death of her daughter Lucy.

Although the police told Cindy that all the remaining members of the Ford crime family are d.e.a.d and it was safe to come home, many fans were left sceptical.

However, other loyal viewers thought Amelia could be serving as an alibi for another character in the ‘whodunnit’ storyline.

They think she could have been with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) at Christmas when the Walford villain was left for dead.

So Phil is looking at Amelia the s.e.x workers card today and then it cuts to Ian as he overhears Cindy and Junior? Amelia is definitely Ians alibi for the Cindy attack.

I reckon Amelia the s.e.x worker is Ian’s alibi for the night of Cindys attack. He’s got form.
