BBC viewers know that Elaine Knight overheard a voice recording of Cindy confessing that she still loves her ex-husband George, while Freddie was recording bird calls.

Cindy admitted to settling for Ian Beale and sleeping with Junior Knight because she can’t be with George and needs passion in her life.

Elaine threatened Cindy to reveal her secret to her family or she would.

However, the landlady changed her mind after George reflected on his difficult year full of loss and drama.

She then changed tactics and told Cindy to leave Walford for good and never contact George ever again.

But the soap’s teaser trailer for Christmas Day revealed that George will be gifted a USB with Cindy’s confession on.

He will play it to a pub full of people, including Cindy’s nearest and dearest.

But who gave it to him?

Fans of the BBC soap are buzzing with theories about who might hand over.

One conspired: “I feel like it has to be Junior, he doesn’t trust Cindy and it’s his way of making sure she stays with him.”

Another speculated: “Maybe Lauren. She will be wanting Cindy to be found out. Plus a nod to her past with the Max and Tanya affair reveal years ago.”

A third theorised: “Kojo, he’s too scared to tell the truth so this is his way of getting it out and I’m all for it.”

Fans are eagerly anticipating the fallout, which could mark a major turning point in the storyline.

EastEnders airs on Christmas Day at 7:35pm and again at 10:30pm on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer.
