EastEnders looks set to revisit Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) and Zack Hudson’s (James Farrar) affair in forthcoming scenes.

Upon Nicola’s arrival in Walford last year, it soon became apparent that she and Zack shared some history from their days before living in Albert Square.

It was then revealed they’d previously had an affair when Zack was working as a personal trainer and she was still married to Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian).

As they reminisced about old times, Nicola asked Zack to keep their tryst a secret, not wanting Teddy and their sons Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) to find out.

But Zack walks back on that promise in scenes to air next week as part of EastEnders’ 40th anniversary.

As the residents of Walford gather at the Queen Vic to celebrate the nuptials of Honey and Billy Mitchell (Emma Barton and Perry Fenwick), many people are feeling the love the air.

With his best mate Martin Fowler (James Bye) caught up with his feelings for both Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Zack makes his own romantic confession.

Confiding in his pal, Zack reveals all about his fling with Nicola years earlier – could a reunion be on the cards?

However, there isn’t much time for Martin to take in the news, as soon after a devastating explosion rips through Honey and Billy’s reception, raising the Vic to the ground.

With many lives left hanging in the balance, who will make it out alive?

‘It’s going to be full on!’ says Emma Barton, who plays Honey. ‘Dramatic, beautiful and sad. It’s a week of episodes not to be missed.’

EastEnders’ 40th anniversary week airs from Monday 17 February on BBC One and iPlayer.
