EastEnders enthusiasts have speculated about Zoe Slater’s new romantic interest following her comeback.
Zoe (played by Michelle Ryan), the youngest of the Slater sisters, first made her mark on Albert Square alongside her family back in 2000. It’s safe to say that Zoe was at the heart of numerous significant storylines.
However, it was in 2001 when the soap unveiled one of its most dramatic and memorable plot twists involving the Slater clan. Zoe discovered that her elder sister Kat (Jessie Wallace) was, in fact, her biological mother.
Regrettably, in 2005, Zoe bid farewell to the square and relocated to Ibiza. Yet, this week, after a hiatus of 20 years, the much-loved character returned, albeit under less than favourable circumstances.

It transpired that Zoe had been staying at Stacey’s (Lacey Turner) flat away from Walford, as Stacey took a respite from the square following Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) demise, reports Belfast Live.
However, unable to coax her cousin into sorting out her life, Stacey eventually sought Alfie Moon’s (Shane Richie) assistance in Monday’s episode (June 16).
The plot thickened when a visibly distressed Zoe, who was avoiding any interaction with Kat, confessed to Stacey that she had committed an unforgivable act.

In Thursday’s episode (June 19), Stacey discovered that Zoe had nicked her credit card to book a flight to Barcelona.
Now, as Zoe prepares for her return to the BBC One soap this summer, fans believe they’ve deduced her potential love interest – and it’s a face we all recognise.
On an EastEnders Facebook fan page, punters have been chinning over the possibility that the mystery man could be Max Branning (Jake Wood), a blast from Stacey’s past!

One devoted viewer put out their elaborate theory, stating: “So… might be a bit of an out there theory but I really think Zoe is dating / or dated someone from the Slater’s past.”
Elaborating further they added: “Max Branning I think would be good because he might have turned nasty since leaving the soap. Maybe he got her involved in some dodgy business? I definitely think there are more returns and there was a lot of speculation Max is coming back.”
Other devotees were quick to jump on the bandwagon, as one piped up: “They might have dated you never know!” Another then added their two pence worth: “Wow, could be possible and then it could lead to Max’s return as well.”
