Emmerdale 2025 flashforwards reveal tragic ‘disaster’, secrets exposed and d.e.a.d.l.y revenge

A new Emmerdale preview has given a glimpse into the year ahead, with some cryptic flashforwards for 2025 teased.

Spoilers had confirmed that on New Year’s Eve, fans would get a glimpse into the future focusing on five storylines. Some of the plots previewed are currently airing onscreen, but it seems one of them has yet to kick off.

A dramatic preview clip of the flashforward itself shows Caleb Miligan fighting for his life, someone left trapped under some ice and two deaths are teased. A body appears to be disposed of, while Cain Dingle is seen at a graveside sobbing. We also see Mackenzie Boyd running in fear – but what exactly goes down?

There’s revenge, drama and secrets exposed, while a devastating and life-changing event is set to cause heartache for villagers too. It’s been teased fates “hang in the balance” too for those featuring in the clip released by the ITV soap.

The scenes make no real sense at the moment, with it yet to be revealed what they mean and what happens. But according to soap boss Laura Shaw, there’s chaos and devastation ahead.

Amongst those featuring in the big new spoilers, separate from the clip, are Ruby Miligan, her husband Caleb and her daughter Steph. Ruby is currently at the centre of a harrowing plot, where it was revealed her father Anthony Fox had s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y abused her when she was a child.

In the coming weeks, the plot escalates when Ruby confesses to sister-in-law Chas Dingle that Caleb might not be the biological father of her daughter Steph after her abuse ordeal. Also at risk of being exposed is her fling with Caleb’s brother Cain, and it’s been confirmed secrets “won’t stay quiet for long”.

With the truth set to come out in 2025, it’s been teased Ruby’s whole world is set to implode. Marlon Dingle also continues to struggle in the wake of his 15-year-old daughter April Windsor’s disappearance.

With new discoveries about why the teen ran away seemingly coming to light the search continues into the new year. As the pressure mounts, Marlon clashes with his wife Rhona Goskirk, and soon a secret is revealed – but what does the future hold for the couple, and will April be found?

Another person harbouring a secret is Kim Tate, following the death of her husband Will Taylor on Christmas Day. The timely return of Joe Tate after six years away, after Kim ordered his death, has certainly sparked suspicion over whether he’s involved in Will’s demise.

Will died from a heart attack moments after a showdown with Kim, after Will’s plan against her with Peter and Joe came to light. So will we finally find out what Joe really wants from Kim, and whether he’s hiding something sinister after concerning scenes in a recent episode?

Will’s daughter Dawn Taylor initially suspects Joe of foul play, before her attentions turn towards stepmother Kim. But is she onto something, and did someone really cause Will’s death?

Dawn decides to take matters into her own hands in a revenge twist, but the decisions that follow could tear her whole life apart. Finally, a devastating stunt of some sort could be on the way as a “disaster” has been teased.

It’s revealed that a fun night out for some characters takes a horrifying turn, possibly leaving lives on the line. The night out ends “in a devastating disaster” that will “shatter life in the village forever”.

But what happens, and will there be a shock death on the way? Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw spilled of the flashforwards: “The flash forwards will tease several storylines that will reveal a sneak peak of what’s to come across 2025. As our villagers toast the New Year, a glimpse into each of their futures will be revealed. As the fate of those depicted hangs in the balance, the only thing for certain is it’s going to be an explosive year in Emmerdale.”
