Emmerdale airs Wendy Posner’s final scenes after bitter backlash
"I know when I'm beaten".
Emmerdale has aired Susan Cookson’s final scenes as Wendy Posner.
The soap star bid goodbye to the Dales in tonight’s episode after five years in the role, with her exit announced in late December last year.
Viewers saw Wendy try to make amends before her departure, including coming clean to Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk about her involvement in the news story about April in the local Hotten Courier newspaper.
Having a cup of tea at Victoria Sugden’s house, Wendy admitted she was going to “miss waking up to that view everyday”, looking out at the village that has been her home for the last few years.
Victoria tried to persuade Wendy to stay so she could remain close to grandson Harry, but Wendy admitted: “I know when I’m beaten.”
Before hitting the road, Wendy tried to atone for her recent actions, starting with ex-partner Bob Hope. Arriving unannounced at The Grange, she told Bob she’d come to say goodbye as she was going to stay with her son Luke for awhile.
A shocked Bob was still unable to forgive her for the news articles, but told her that he “doesn’t hate her”.
Next, Wendy headed to the Woolpack, where she found Marlon and Rhona. She confessed that she helped the reporter with the sensationalist April story after being blackmailed, with both shocked by the revelation.
Apologising again, she added that she hoped they “get April home soon” before leaving the pub.
In her final scene, Wendy packed up her car, before hugging Victoria and Harry goodbye, but she was surprised when two other faces came to wave her off too.
Former lover Liam Cavanagh and fellow colleague Manpreet Sharma arrived, and despite her actions, they both wished her all the best going forward.
A forlorn Bob was seen watching Wendy’s departure from the B&B silently, with the two making eye contact, before she turned and and drove off.
While it’s the last we’ll see of Wendy, Emmerdale fans will be pleased to know that the door is being left open for Cookson to potentially return one day.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
