Emmerdale will not air in its usual slot on Bank Holiday Monday.

The ITV soap usually airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 but it has been confirmed that the show will not air on April 21.

Instead, ITV will air Burney and Sheffield United’s EFL football match from 5pm until 7.45pm.

Coronation Street will sill as normal at 8pm and Emmerdale will return the following night (Tuesday, April 22) at 7.30pm with an hour-long episode.

Emmerdale is not the only soap facing a shake-up on Monday as EastEnders will air at the earlier time of 6.50pm instead of 7.30pm on BBC One.

Disney movie Dumbo will instead play on the channel and EastEnders will return the next day at 7.30pm.

In Emmerdale next week, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) left with food for thought when Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) alludes to the idea that Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) might be having an affair with Ross Barton (Mike Parr).

Later, Billy picks up Dawn’s phone, but is winded to realise she’s changed the code, only furthering his suspicions.

He’s gutted when Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) stokes his theory that Ross and Dawn are having an affair and he confronts Ross on his suspicions. A tussle between the men starts.

After Dawn enters, Billy’s mortified to have accidentally aired his theory about her infidelity in front of Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison).

Reeling from his mistake, Billy tries to comfort Clemmie, but she wants nothing to do with him, and Billy is saddened to realise his suspicions were misplaced.

Devastated to have gotten it all wrong, Billy is later comforted by Joe. When broken Billy embraces him, Joe is riddled with guilt knowing he’s the cause of Billy’s pain.

Billy leaves Home Farm, and Joe reassures a guilty Dawn it’s for the best.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
