Emmerdale ‘confirms’ exit as fans ‘work out’ identity of new villager – and he knows Joe Tate
Emmerdale took a dramatic turn on Monday night as the villagers gathered for Amy, Suzy and Leyla's vigil
Emmerdale stalwart Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) teased his exit from the village as he threatened to k.i.l.l Caleb Milligan (Will Ash).
After his half-brother tried to frame him for Anthony Fox’s (Nicholas Day) m.u.r.d.e.r, Cain said he didn’t care about being put in prison if it meant getting revenge.
As the Dingles and Milligans gathered together, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who disposed of Anthony’s body, tried to diffuse the situation.
He warned: “We could get in serious trouble if you go shouting your mouth off.”
“He knows what could happen, he is just an idiot,” Caleb replied. “I am protecting my own just like you should be.”
Chas chimed in: “Cain, Caleb is right, he is just looking out for everyone. We need to trust each other.”
“Is that right?” the Dingle stalwart hit back before adding: “Are you going to tell them or am I? Ok, he tried to frame me for Anthony. It doesn’t matter when, it just matters that he tried.”
Will Cain end up carrying out his threat? And if so, will he end up back in prison but for life?
Elsewhere in the episode, fans spotted a person in the village, and many think he could be either connected to Suzy (Martelle Edinborough) or Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
During the vigil held in the church, the villagers gathered to pay their respects, but one person stood out like a sore thumb.
The mystery man wore a long brown coat and walked into the church as the vigil began. No one else seemed to bat an eyelid as he sat down apart from Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) or looked back as the man took his seat.
However, fans seem to think they have worked out who the new villager is and took to social media to share their thoughts.
On a Facebook fan page, one wrote: “So who was the guy who went to the vigil in the brown overcoat? Black curly hair and black beard, a bit random.”
While some joked the man looked like interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, others theorised: “I thought he might be relevant to the story.”
“I thought something to do with Suzy,” another suggested while a fourth added: “Think he’s tied in with the Joe storyline.”
“I thought the same,” someone else said as one stated: “Maybe someone to do with Suzie, maybe she was married at one time.”
Emmerdale is available to watch on ITVX.
