It was a dramatic night in Emmerdale tonight, with a shock breakup and a bombshell discovery. It looks like it’s the end of the road for Gail Loman and Ryan Stocks as a harmless game lead to a huge showdown.

The couple took part in Mr and Mrs game alongside Mandy Dingle and Paddy Kirk, however Gail and Ryan realised they didn’t know each other at all. The realisation caused a huge row to erupt between the two, as Gail appeared to end the romance once and for all.

“I don’t wanna be separate people – I wanna be in love! And I don’t think we are anymore,” she exclaimed before storming out. The admission comes as the soap confirmed an exit for Gail as Rachael Gill-Davis prepares to leave the soap.

A game of Mr and Mrs ended Gail and Ryan’s relationship

News of the exit first emerged in reports in March, and a source claimed to The Sun it was the right time for actress Rachael to “spread her wings” while the show also didn’t have much more in store for her. It appeared to be a mutual decision by both the actress and bosses for Gail to depart this year.

Elsewhere in the Dales, a bombshell discovery left Billy reeling, as Clemmie told Billy she had seen Joe and Dawn kiss. In an argument, Clemmie could be heard telling Joe he wasn’t her dad.

“I don’t want to be your dad, I can’t think of anything more unpleasant,” he said, before Clemmie told him to go and live somewhere else. He then threatened to tell Dawn about the bite – while Clemmie said she’d reveal all.

“If you tell one single soul, I’ll make sure we send you to that special place with all the other damaged children,” Joe threatened.

Later on, an upset Clemmie could be seen sitting on the floor as Billy went over to comfort her. “I wish me and Dawn had never put you through this, but I’m only around the corner,” he said as Clemmie responded: “Please don’t let them send me away.”

After much deliberation, Clemmie admitted to Billy that she bit Joe – and exactly why. “I saw him kissing her,” she said. “Kissing Dawn. I’m sorry. He gave me a present, but I smashed it all up. He said he’d tell Dawn, he said she’d think I’d hurt Evan, but I never would. He said he’d report me to social services if I told a single soul,” she continued.

Although he was visibly upset by the revelation, Billy continued to comfort his daughter, telling her to stay away from him. “You’re my little girl, it’s my job to protect you. So no more tears, Joe’s my problem now,” he said.

Billy and Dawn Fletcher, played by Olivia Bromley, called time on their marriage when Dawn decided she wanted to pursue things with local villain Joe Tate. Unbeknown to Billy, Dawn has been having an affair with Joe for the past few months, with Billy blindsided by her decision to split.

However, this week, viewers will see the plot take a dramatic turn, when Dawn’s infidelity comes to light and Joe Tate is attacked in an explosive confrontation.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
