Emmerdale exit revealed months after return – and one character will be heartbroken
Warning contains spoilers - Monday's episode of Emmerdale, which is available on ITV, sees one character exit the village - but have they left for good?
Emmerdale viewers bid farewell to one character on Monday’s episode.
The latest instalment, which is available to watch on ITV X, saw the aftermath of the harrowing stabbing incident last week. Soap watchers will recall that in recent scenes, Joe Tate arranged for Caleb Milligan to be stabbed so he could steal his kidney.
In the sinister episodes, Caleb almost died with the villager flat-lining on the operating table as Joe’s private doctor, Dr Crowley, battled to save Caleb and successfully undergo the kidney transfer.
Thankfully, Caleb survived the ordeal with Dr Crowley dropping him off at hospital, claiming he operated on Caleb as an emergency to save his life and had to remove his kidney due to the location of the stab wound.
On Monday’s episode, Joe, who has been seriously ill with chronic kidney disease and now has Caleb’s kidney, was left fretting after learning his accomplice, Shaun, who stabbed Caleb, had been arrested.
However, upon Shaun being released pending an investigation, Caleb arranged for his accomplice to be flown out to Thailand while he planned to leave for Dubai.
He told Dr Crowley he couldn’t stay in the village and he had medics waiting for him in Dubai so he could recover in peace. Dr Crowley wished Joe good luck before announcing his own exit as he revealed: “I’m out of here!” to which Joe replied: “Yeah, me too, time to move on!”
The episode ended with Joe travelling to the airport, where he deleted Dawn Fletcher, who he has been having an affair with, from his phone contacts.
As Joe exited, Dawn was seen sobbing to Kim Tate about her love triangle, admitting she didn’t know if she wanted to continue her marriage to Billy Fletcher as she was in love with Joe.
With a double exit revealed on Monday’s episode as Joe and Dr Crowley both leave the village following their sinister plan, will they avoid comeuppance?
Meanwhile, Joe’s exit will leave Dawn heartbroken, especially after admitting she’s willing to end her marriage for the dodgy businessman.
It comes as it was revealed that Joe, who returned back in December after six years away, will get his ‘comeuppance’, according to Metro.
An Emmerdale spokesperson told the publication: “Emmerdale covers a wide ranging scope of subjects in its storytelling. From births to deaths and everything in between, the nightly stories entertain, inform and raise awareness.
“We regularly work with organisations, help groups and charities for the portrayal of many of these subjects. But sometimes our characters go rogue acting out of desperation or whilst under pressure. Joe Tate’s desperate actions are not being held up as an example and as with any soap villain he will ultimately get his comeuppance.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
