Last week in Emmerdale, Home Farm was the location of Lydia Dingle’s (Karen Blick) birthday party.

The problem though? She wasn’t actually there.

Kim Tate (Claire King) decided to organise a big do at her home for Lydia, the cleaner and her best friend. Unfortunately though, as the hours ticked by, it became more and more apparent that Lydia wasn’t going to make it back.

While the character was attempting to return to the Dales after visiting her mum, the mysterious absence has left fans of the ITV soap wondering if something else happened to her.

Taking to the comments section of an Emmerdale Facebook page, plenty of audience members started to speculate a certain John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) might have something to do with Lydia disappearing.

‘She’s another one of John’s victims. He either has her captive or he’s k.i.l.l.e.d her and she’s under the lake’, one user said as fans wondered where Lydia had gone.

Echoing the theory, this person said: ‘Imagine if all along she’s been in the lake like Nate…’.

This is certainly a strong theory, but what reason would John have to do something to innocent Lydia?

The party at Home Farm ended in a pretty dark way, as someone pushed Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) out of a window.

The troublesome character had his secrets exposed in front of everyone moments before. It left multiple characters all with reason to want him d.e.a.d, but only one was successful in getting their revenge.

Friday’s episode of the ITV soap saw confirmation that Joe had been put in a coma after suffering a bleed on his brain.
