Emmerdale viewers were absolutely livid as Tom King (portrayed by James Chase) took the life of Piper with a deadly injection, leaving Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) in pieces.

The ITV drama presented its most harrowing episode on Monday (August 19), featuring vile Tom watching without remorse as his battered wife Belle said her tearful goodbyes to Piper, who was helplessly sprawled on the vet’s table.

As a tearful Belle cradled her furry friend, Tom coldly administered the fatal shot, putting an end to poor Piper’s life. This despicable deed follows a previous incident where Tom had deliberately injured Belle’s precious pup in a twisted attempt to regain control over her, wanting her to become dependent on him once again.

But Belle’s not fooled by his charade; after Piper’s needless demise, she realises Tom is the villain, and she confronts him with allegations of inflicting the injuries.

But then comes the blinding realisation as she points the finger squarely at Tom “killing” Piper, reports the Express.

Attempting to worm his way back into the house, Tom insists Belle needs someone to take care of her mental well-being.

However, Belle rejects his proposal vehemently, although Tom persists that she should lean on him for support.

Despite Tom’s feeble denials, Belle cuts deep with her accusation: “Oh my God it was you. It was you wasn’t it… you’ve killed her. You ran her over.”

Emmerdale viewers were left sickened by Tom’s devastating move on Piper, with some even turning off their TVs. One peeved fan took to Twitter saying: “More animal cruelty. Miserable characters. Switching over to Netflix now.”

Another typed in outrage: “#Emmerdale ..are they killing Piper off? Or is this all for Tom to miraculously save her? I won’t watch this programme…hopefully, someone will post what happens ..they have gone tooo far.” (sic)

A third added their voice, expressing distress: “Wow talk about triggering, thanks Emmerdale wish I hadn’t watched that when I’ve been through it twice this year. #emmerdale.”

And yet another commented on the unsettling scenes: “The is so weird to watch, it’s sad but also it’s Tom. #Emmerdale”, echoing the conflicted feelings of many fans.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
