Emmerdale fans ‘rumble’ real mum of Caleb’s daughter Stephanie – and it’s ‘not Ruby’

Emmerdale fans think an affair twist may explain the mystery surrounding Caleb Miligan’s missing daughter Stephanie.

The character was mentioned this week in a scene between Caleb and his mother-in-law Helen Fox, the mother of his wife Ruby. Viewers know that the couple have a son named Nicky who left the show earlier this year.

But there’s only ever been hints of the pair having another child, a daughter. There was never any real confirmation and the character is rarely mentioned, not once appearing onscreen.

Ruby and Caleb often speak about Nicky and seemed close with him, but they never really talk about Stephanie. It’s only that Helen asked Caleb about his daughter this week that viewers learned she even existed.

Helen was heard asking if he’d seen her hinting that there’s some distance between her and her parents, possibly explaining her absence. Caleb bit back though telling her not to mention his kids’ names.

Now, some fans are predicting Ruby isn’t the real mother of Stephanie in a twist, and that this could be why Helen was asking about her. Despite it seeming as though Stephanie is Ruby’s child, possibly her firstborn, viewers have wondered if Helen is in fact Stephanie’s real mother.

Viewers suggested that this could be why Ruby isn’t in contact with Stephanie, seemingly, and why she never mentions her. Given how much she adores Nicky and was desperate not to lose him when he left, fans have wondered what could have happened for her to not feel this way about Stephanie.

Viewers believe the reason Helen asked about her and not Nicky is because she and Caleb may have had an affair, and perhaps Stephanie is Helen and Caleb’s child, not Ruby’s. After all, it’s only Caleb who has ever really mentioned having more than one child, and while it was revealed Ruby had a baby young this could have been Nicky.

Taking to social media one fan said: “So did Caleb have a baby with his mum in law?” Another replied: “Could explain why they hate each other,” as another said: “Maybe she’s not Ruby’s daughter!”

One more comment read: “That makes sense, as why hasn’t Ruby mentioned Stephanie if she is hers and Caleb’s? She hasn’t mentioned another child.” A further comment said: “Stephanie is Ruby’s half-sister.” Other fans wondered if Stephanie wasn’t Helen’s daughter, but if there was a secret sister of Ruby’s who was fathered by Caleb.
