Emmerdale fans threaten Ofcom after Charity ‘brainwashed’ in ‘ridiculous’ scene

Emmerdale viewers rejoiced as Charity called off her romance with Mackenzie after stabbing him, but their happiness was short-lived as she changed her mind just minutes later

Emmerdale fans threatened the soap with Ofcom after watching an “awful” scene.

During Tuesday’s instalment (March 12) of the ITV soap, Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) was confused when he came downstairs to find Charity (Emma Atkins) gone. He realised he made a mistake when he refused to give Charity the space she asked for.

After some searching, Mack found Charity stranded on the side of a country road as her car had broken down. Mack begged Charity to not give up on their relationship, but she couldn’t forgive herself for stabbing him.

She decided to end their relationship, telling Mack it was over for good. Just minutes later, Mack realised that Charity was stranded on the same road where they first met.

As Mack walked away from Charity, she stopped him and told him she made a mistake ending their romance. She branded Mack her soulmate before the couple kissed and officially reunited.

But fans at home were less than pleased with the scenes as many headed to social media to slam the soap. One fumed: “Writing to Ofcom for the level of actual distress I know feel over charity forgiving that d-ward.”

“This is so boring. Charity brainwashed again by Mack,” shared a second. Another agreed: “Charity storyline is ridiculous.. She’s abandoned her kids, her grandkids and husband, all the people that can support her …. #Emmerdale get some new scriptwriters in, its becoming a joke.”

A fourth added: “Mackenzie gaslighted Charity again now she’s back in his orbit declaring ‘he’s her soulmate’.” Hitting out at the writers, another penned: “The chance for Charity to empower herself, put herself first and get the support she so clearly requires is right there…. The #Emmerdale Writers: Nah, put her back in a toxic, co-dependent relationship with Mack.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) told Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and Aaron (Danny Miller) that her operation was later in the week. But when she only allows herself two weeks off on the Woolpack roster, Aaron worries she’s not facing up to the reality of her operation.
