Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ character recast as Ruby Milligan makes worrying discovery

Emmerdale has aired heartbreaking scenes for struggling Steph Milligan (played by Georgia Jay) as she tries to get plastic surgery to alter her appearance for a devastating reason.

The life-changing decision came after Steph discovered that she is a product of sexual abuse after her grandad, Anthony (Nicholas Day), abused her mum, Ruby (Beth Cordingly). The earth-shattering discovery also exposed Anthony as her real dad and not Caleb Milligan (William Ash).

Steph has been unable to process the warped connection she shares with Anthony. Whenever she looks in the mirror, she sees Anthony and cannot shake this from her mind.

On Wednesday (30th April), troubled Steph left home and headed to a medical clinic to have a nose job and lied to her parents that she was going on holiday.

The doctor had some welfare questions for Steph, but she became uncomfortable as she answered them and wondered if they were necessary.

As she was about to go under the knife, Ruby and Caleb realised what their daughter was up to and immediately headed for the clinic.

Arriving in the nick of time before Steph went down for her surgery, the pair tried to talk Steph out of the procedure, but she was livid when the doctor confirmed he would have to cancel her operation for ethical reasons.

Later in the episode, Ruby and Caleb discussed the possibility of counselling to help Steph cope. Meanwhile, Steph booked a brow lift and asked for the procedure to occur as soon as possible.

Emmerdale viewers have been left wondering if the character will be recast if Steph undergoes numerous procedures to alter her facial appearance.

Taking to X, one person asked: “#emmerdale if Steph has all this work done, does that mean she will come back with a new head, won’t recognise her.”

A second stated: “How funny would it be if you knew the way Steph is planning all these cosmetic surgeries; that the writers recast her #emmerdale.”

“Aww, how harsh would that be, acting your way to being recast Steph does have an identical twin sister in real life though…They seem to make Mandy look different (well from the actress) though so a handy prosthetic maybe. #Emmerdale”, replied another viewer.

“Is Steph going to have cosmetic surgery and return as a different actress? #Emmerdale”, asked one viewer.

Another joked: “Ross you’ll not recognise Steph next you see her mate #Emmerdale.”
