Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ heartbreaking Rhona twist as she spirals out of control

Emmerdale fans are convinced that things are about to take a turn for the worse for Rhona Goskirk after her ex-husband Gus Malcolms plans to move out of Emmerdale with baby Ivy

Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out a major twist as Rhona Goskirk reached breaking point over baby Ivy.

Earlier this week, the vet – who is played by Zoe Henry in the ITV soap – as forced to say goodbye to the tot for one night when her dad Gus Malcolms took her home for the night. Loyal viewers will know that Ivy was born when Gus and his late wife illegally stole frozen embryos that he and Rhona had fertilised when they were married.

It didn’t take long before Rhona discovered Gus’ secret and confronted him and wife Lucy about it, which pushed the pleading mum into an early labour and died. Gus quickly fell into a depression and couldn’t cope with Ivy, so Rhona and her mum Mary stepped up and helped pick up the pieces.

But this plan soon backfired after Rhona grew an attachment to the youngster, now feeling like she is Ivy’s mother. On Monday (February 5), Gus admitted that he felt strong enough to look after Ivy for the night after slowly coming to terms with his grief.

It’s fair to say the decision crushed Rhona, who struggled to sleep the whole night while her daughter stayed with her dad. On Tuesday (February 6), Rhona and Gus reunited to discuss how his night with Ivy went.

It was at this point that he explained that he was ready to look after Ivy full time and is starting to look for a permanent place to find a home together away from the Dales. The news devastated Rhona, who stormed out of the cafe with Marlon hot on her heels.

The chef followed her home where he found her upset in the kitchen as he attempted to comfort her. He warned: “We always knew it was going to happen” to while she replied: “It was just so fast. I’m not ready. I love her, Marlon. I love her.”

Later on in the show, Rhona attempted to distract herself with housework, but it wasn’t enough and she soon crumbled. At the end of the episode, Marlon summed Gus to the pub where he proposed the idea of co-parenting Ivy with Rhona after everything she had done to help him this year.

He said: “You don’t take on the care of a little life like Ivy’s and not care, it’s not easy. People co-parent. Grown-ups, they get together and talk like grown-ups and come to grown-up agreements.”

Unconvinced of his proposition, Gus simply said: “Yeah… It’s something we can think about.” It didn’t take long before fans flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their suspicions about Rhona’s reaction online.
