Emmerdale fans work out who Tom King’s next victim will be – but it’s not who you think

Emmerdale fans breathed a sigh of relief when Belle Dingle went to psychiatric hospital, but viewers soon turned their concerns to another villager who Tom King could hurt next

Emmerdale fans are convinced they have worked out who Tom King (played by James Chase) will hurt next after his wife returned to her psychiatric hospital.

Over the past few months, the ITV show has been tackling the sensitive topic of domestic violence through Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) marriage to Carl King’s son. The junior vet has tried to exert control over his wife by gaslighting her and keeping an eye on her every day.

More recently, Tom took his abuse to a whole new level when he punched her in the stomach after spying on her whilst at work. But this isn’t the first time he has hit Belle after he slapped her when she rejected his proposal last year.

Last week, viewers watched the blonde bombshell snap at her husband as she pushed him over in the middle of the village as residents looked on in shock. It was at this point that the Belle called her crisis team for help and moved back into her psychiatric hospital.

But during Monday’s visit (May 27) to the village, viewers learnt that her close friend Lydia will be paying her a visit.

It didn’t take long before Tom found out when Lydia paid him a visit and dropped off a box of eggs. Now viewers have turned their concerns to another beloved resident after Lydia admitted how much Belle loves her furry friend, Piper.

During the show, Lydia paid a visit to the vet to thank him for checking over her beloved pets. And she didn’t come empty handed as she dropped off a box of eggs for him.

As she handed over the goods, she greeted Belle’s beloved dog with a coo. She gushed: “Aww hello! Are you missing your mummy? I bet she’s missing you too, she hates being away from you.”

It was at this point that Tom looked off into the distance as if he had come up with another evil idea just as Lydia offered to walk the perfect pooch for him. Tom insisted he would walk Piper because it would “do him good to get some fresh air.”

But it was clear the cruel husband had more sinister plans in place, as the show ended moments after he pulled out a syringe filled with medicine. He told the teeny dog: “Hold still, this will hurt you more than it will hurt me” before he added: “Actually, I’m not sure it will.”

After watching the distressing scenes, fans flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their fears online. One user penned: “Tom better not harm a hair on that wee dog’s head!!!!” as another fumed: “If that p***k takes it out on that dog, then I’m switching off #Emmerdale.”

A third agreed: “Right, just keep the dog out of it. We know things happen with pets. But ffs, don’t do this [angry emoji] #Emmerdale.” A fourth chimed in with: “If Tom hurts that dog I’m showing up to the Emmerdale studio tour with a vengeance #emmerdale.”

Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out what will happen to Piper while Belle is away. Emmerdale airs on weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
