Emmerdale spoilers follow for Monday’s (October 28) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) was left positively speechless after discovering that the person he’d be squaring off against in a bareknuckle fight was none other than Emmerdale returnee Ross Barton (Mike Parr).
The personal trainer, as viewers know, has been taking part in illegal underground fights in order to try and make some money to keep a roof over his and wife Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) heads.
The couple, who resident at Holdgate, have had an incredibly difficult year following baby Evan’s leukaemia diagnosis, plus the unexpected arrival – and subsequent disappearance – of Dawn’s estranged mum Rose (Christine Tremarco).
Billy has felt an overwhelming desire to provide for his family during this difficult time, which is what ultimately led to him getting involved in the illegal fights.
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), who patched him up after a particularly brutal brawl, has been helping him train ahead of his next fight, but following some words of warning from Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), the farmhand attempted to talk Billy out of taking part.
Billy actually listened to his mate’s advice but fight organiser Jade (Twinnie-Lee Moore) refused to let him back out, taking him to the run down warehouse where the fight was set to take place.
Mack witnessed Jade and her cronies escorting Billy out of the village and, fearing the worst, he begged old pal Aaron for assistance.
Aaron was reluctant to help but after a spot of flattery from Mack, he agreed to do so, with the two heading straight for the warehouse in question, hoping they’d be able to put a stop to the brawl.
Billy, meanwhile, was notified by Jade just beforehand that the fight in question would be a bareknuckle one, leaving him somewhat perturbed.
Mack arrived soon afterwards but, knowing it was too late to talk Billy out of it, he simply offered some words of advice. Things, however, took an unexpected turn when Billy’s opponent was revealed – and it’s none other than Ross Barton.
Ross, who was last seen in the village in 2018, made quite an entrance as he walked into the venue to the rapturous roars of attendees, removing his gown to show off his muscles. It became quite clear that he’s something of a pro at this game.
The question is: who will come out victorious? Billy or Ross? And just what is Ross doing back?
