Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan has broken her silence on her character April Windsor’s special episode this week.

Over the festive period, the teenager ran away from home amid a turbulent time, notably after being kidnapped by Jade and the deterioration of her relationship with dad Marlon Dingle.

After Marlon and Rhona were informed that she had been found earlier this week, a standalone episode aired last night that revealed what happened to April, showing her harrowing journey sleeping on the streets.

The scenes saw her being conned out of her remaining cash and vomiting amid her pregnancy, while also resorting to stealing amid her money troubles.

She suffered a stillbirth in a public toilet after pleading with the public for help, and April was later seen motionless on a public bench as a child approached her, only to be ushered away by her mother.

Taking to Instagram after the scenes aired, Amelia paid tribute to those who helped work on the storyline.

“Thank you,” she began. “Feel so lucky to have been trusted with this incredible and heartbreaking storyline. So many people helped make this episode happen, and every single person put their everything into it.
