Emmerdale star confirms key family to be ‘blown apart’ following d.e.a.t.h
An Emmerdale family is set to be ‘blown apart’ in upcoming scenes after a brutal m.u.r.d.e.r.
Next week, Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) is set to be found d.e.a.d, having been k.i.l.l.e.d by a mystery a.s.s.a.i.l.a.n.t.
With the abuser having racked up a number of enemies, the hunt is on to find the k.i.l.l.e.r.
In emotional scenes over the past few weeks, Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) has struggled to cope with her father’s overbearing presence in her life, after he s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y abused her as a child.
With daughter Steph Miligan (Georgia Jay) back on the scene, Ruby decided that she needed to know once and for all whether Caleb Miligan (William Ash) was really her father, or if her worst fears were correct.
However, in upcoming scenes she realises that she would prefer not to know, and sets out to destroy the DNA results – but when she arrives home, she finds that Caleb has got there first…
‘Caleb finds the DNA test that Ruby has done and finds out Caleb is not Steph’s father. He is scrabbling about to think who could be Steph’s father from that period of time when they were 16/17,’ actor Will Ash explained.
‘He figures it could be this guy called Rob who Ruby was really close to growing up. He’s the only one, Caleb didn’t particularly like him, he was a bit nerdy and geeky always hanging around Ruby.
‘He gets Rob round to the house, Rob is like “no!” and says he’s gay, him and Ruby were just friends and he really convinces Caleb it wasn’t him.
‘In the meantime, Chas [Dingle (Lucy Pargeter)] has put two and two together with the fear Ruby has about her dad, and Chas is the one who tells Caleb that Anthony abused Ruby. It comes as a massive shock.’
Having worked out the truth, it’s safe to say that Caleb is heartbroken and furious.
‘Initially he speaks to Ruby about it, he accused Ruby of cheating so he has the conversation with Ruby about who Steph’s father really is.
‘When he finds out the truth, Caleb absolutely wants to k.i.l.l Anthony. He just wants vengeance and is desperate to go after him.
‘Initially Ruby tells him not to, then you find out Caleb is going to pursue him to get some kind of justice, as messed up as it is, for Ruby.’
In upcoming scenes, Caleb orders Anthony to get into his car, shortly after Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) witnesses an unguarded interaction between the father and daughter.
‘We see a gun delivered to Caleb, so he is in possession of a gun,’ Will teased. ‘He takes Anthony to a barn wanting to confront him with what he’s done, he wants him to admit to what he’s done and face up to it. He wants him to admit that he is a monster.’
What else does Caleb have planned, and does he have it in him to k.i.l.l?
‘Initially he isn’t [capable of k.i.l.l.i.n.g him], but when he’s confronted with Anthony and the way he doesn’t accept responsibility for what he’s done and is so casual about it and almost blames Ruby for the abuse, I think that makes Caleb so angry,’ Will explained.
‘I don’t think he is capable initially but when he’s confronted with Anthony’s indifference to what he’s done it sends Caleb into a tailspin and a rage…’
If Caleb were to be revealed as Anthony’s k.i.l.l.e.r, Will insists that it will have a huge impact on the Fox-Miligan family.
‘The impact on the family would be devastating because of the relationship with Steph, and trying to amend after all those years.
‘Also it would be even worse for Ruby. She has held onto this awful secret for all these years having been abused. It would make things a thousand times worse for them as a family. Ruby probably would blame herself. It would blow the family apart.’
